Can you fanthom what it must feel like for the State to rule death by lethal injection and within minutes of the moment you are about to die, they postpone your death? Well, this is what happened to Kelly Gissendaner; two attempts were made to end the life of Kelly Gissendaner, the only woman on Georgia's death row and both left her deeply distraught and traumatized.
The bible gives us a reprieve. It's Isaiah 41:10
Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
God will uphold you in the right hand of his righteousness is a powerful bible verseto ascribe to Kelly Gissendaner but Kelly Gissendaner is not your ordinary death row prisoner; she has been redeemed. She had spent the last four or more of her 22 years on death row studying theology and ministering to the women in her midst. While incarcerated, Kelly has been a pastoral role-model to many. Her life has been a living testament to the how someone can be transformed and surrender to Christ. Kelly's life is an miraculous example of how redemption is possible. Taught by world renown theologians and scholars, all of which vouched for her sincere love of Christ, has afforded Kelly the love of God. She has reached out to many women in prison on the verge of suicide and frustration and shared with them the Love of Christ.
Well, the Lord says to fear not, because He is with you and He says to not be dismayed for I am your God we have no choice but to trust Him. We are not to lean on our own understanding when He promises to strengthen and to help. The hand of God is sure to give us the victory. There is no power stronger than His right hand of righteousness and nothing and no one can pluck you out of it either. No one, not the Georgia parole board of elections, which decided that despite all the appeals of a changed life ,that Kelly was going to die by lethal injection. Everybody was certain, including her that her life would be no more. Her children begged the state not to kill their mother and even the council of clergy and educators all could not convince them to give her a commuted sentence.
But the God of second chances, stepped in and no one, not even the executioner, could administer the lethal formula because God had rendered it cloudy. Oh hallelujah, God is the lawgiver, He is the righteous judge and only what he does shall stand. What He does shall stand forever. The attorneys are fighting for her right to live now. Lets pray prayers of agreement. Let us storm heaven on her behalf because everyone redeemed of the Lord must say so.
