Imagine it has been 70 years since The state of Georgia has executed a woman. The last woman executed was Lena Baker in 1945 . Lena was electrocuted for killing her employer.
In 2005, Lena Baker received a full pardoned post humorously after an extensive fight by her family who argued that Lena Baker was acting in self-defense when her boss was killed. It was determined 60 years later that she should have been charged with manslaughter and should not have received the death penalty.
On Monday February 9, 2015, it was announced that Kelly Renee Gissendaner is scheduled to be executed on February 25, 2015 at 7 PM in the state of Georgia, at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.
Gissendaner"s legal team will have a clemency hearing on February 24th 2015, the day before the actual execution. Supreme Court appeal was denied in October 2014.
Gissendaner was convicted in 1998 for the 1997 killing of her husband by her boyfriend who testified as part of plea bargain agreement to receive a life sentence.
The purpose of this blog is beyond reporting on the crimes that women on death row have committed. My goal is to evangelize Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. My mission is to attain the transformation of the soul that is brought about through the message of salvation. It is my belief that if a confession is made unto Christ by women on death row. They will have the chance at eternal life through repenting, redemption and deliverance.
At present, although I have written to Kelly Renee Gissendaner, the letters have been returned. I am not quite sure why. I will be sending her a Sheri Rose Book with bible inspiration to provide a comforting message during this time and I will try writing her again tomorrow. Prayer is important and I am calling on all prayer warriors to pray for her salvation and peace of mind.
